Published on 31 January 2025 Georgi Kiryakov, a student in the "High-Performance Sports" master's program at NSA "Vasil Levski," was recognized at the awards ceremony for the top ten athletes of Yambol Municipality for 2024. The celebration took place at the "Georgi Bratanov" Youth Cultural Center. Kiryakov was awarded a certificate for outstanding sports achievements. His coach, Prof. Valentin Panayotov, Ph.D., Head of the "Weightlifting, Boxing, Fencing, and Sports for All" Department at the Sports Academy, also received an award. The honors were presented by the municipality's Deputy Mayor, Encho Keryazov, a world-renowned acrobat, and two-time Olympic champion in Greco-Roman wrestling, Armen Nazaryan. Due to the recipients' commitments related to their academic and training activities, the awards were accepted by Andon Kiryakov, Georgi's father. Sprinter Nikola Karamanolov from the athletics club "Radio 999" and his coach, Petrana Chamova, earned the "Athlete of the Year" and "Coach of the Year" awards for 2024. Karamanolov reached the semifinals in the 100m at the U20 World Championships in Lima and secured fifth place at the Balkan Championships. |
