Published on 18 February 2025 First-year student at the National Sports Academy, Bozhidar Saraboyukov, claimed Bulgaria's only title at the Balkan Indoor Athletics Championship for men and women, held in Belgrade, Serbia. Saraboyukov had no competition and triumphed with a jump of 8.12 meters in the long jump. He was the only athlete to surpass the 8-meter mark. Second place went to Danilo Dubina (Ukraine) with 7.92 meters, while Andreas Trajkovski (Republic of North Macedonia) finished third with 7.63 meters. Bulgarian athletes also secured two silver and two bronze medals. Tihomir Ivanov placed second in the high jump, and Andrea Savova finished second in the 400 meters. Third-place finishes went to Natali Kostova in the high jump and Nikola Karamanolov in the 60-meter sprint. A total of 236 athletes from 16 countries participated in the championship. In the medal rankings, Turkey took first place with 6 gold, 4 silver, and 7 bronze medals, while Bulgaria ranked sixth with a tally of 1 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze medals. Photo: BGAthletic |
